ABSTRACT This study is on Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility: A tool for organisational success. Specifically, the study aimed to pursue the following objectives: to determine if banks adopt ethical practice in their overall operations, to find out the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on organizational success, to identify the measures adopted by Banks to ensure successful business ethics and CSR, to determine how does effective Business ethics enhance organizational success, to ascertain why some organizations are not socially responsible, The study is a survey research. The study had a population size of 1318 out of which a sample of size of 307 was realized using Taro Yamene’s formula at 5% error to tolerance and 95% level of confidence. Instruments used for data collection were primarily questionnaire and interview. The total number of 307 copies of the,.questionnaire were distributed while 280 copies were returned. Five hypotheses were tested using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient, Chi square (X2 ), Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient and Ztest statistical tools. The study found out that Banks engaged in ethical principles in order to improve their standard as well as the level of acceptance by the society: the impact of CSR such as better public image, customer loyalty, fewer regulatory problems and increased revenue contributed to organisational success. The study concluded that engaging in ethical practices and continued commitment in CSR makes good business sense because not only that organisation stands to benefit from them in the long run but they are necessary for economic efficiency and public policy actualization. Emphasis are laid on effective ethical criteria and sustainable CSR as a means of achieving organisational success by converting ethical and social problems into business opportunities. Recommendations are that Business ethics and CSR deserve greater attention and more commitment from corporate organisation, and they should formulate policies on ethics and CSR so as to provide a guide and channel efforts towards using them to achieving organisational success. Organisations should on a frequent basis identify with societal social needs by helping them, solve these problems as much as possible, with utmost sincerity. Where CSR projects should be well structured and implemented to have maximum impact on the society and in return contribute to success.
